Gulf conceived and built the Hotel Fasano Vieira Souto, which was opened in August 2007. The Hotel is considered one of the best in Rio de Janeiro and owes its great success to its prime location, the design of Philippe Starck, a grand master of world design, and to the Fasano Group’s operational management.
In 2008 Gulf started to study the insurance brokerage segment, in which it had identified a large opportunity for value creation resulting from consolidation. The industry was highly fragmented, so consolidation would create economies of scale in trading and reduce operational costs, besides offering the possibility of cross-selling between and among the brokerage firms.
From the acquisition of 27 insurance brokers, Gulf created the Brasil Insurance, which went public on BM&FBovespa stock market in November 2010.
Today, Brazil Insurance is the largest and most diversified insurance broker in Brazil, comprising 43 companies and has presence in 10 Brazilian States.
Brasil Brokers was idealized out of the perception that the Brazilian property market would experience strong growth. At the time of its creation, the big Brazilian builders and developers began to gain access to the capital market which would enable them to grow and expand geographically their operations. Gulf to meet the likely growth in demand for real estate brokerage services created Brasil Brokers.
Brasil Brokers started its activities in 2006. In 2007 the company went public on the BM&FBovespa stock market from the integration of the 16 leading companies in the of real estate brokerage service sector.
